The recent ICTA Iberian Days marked an important milestone in the development of ICTA’s service offering and its “FreeCRA” freelance network for the Iberian Peninsula.

On this occasion, Olga Vargas from our subsidiary ICTA Iberia – FreeCRA and the ICTA team gathered at ICTA’s headquarters in Dijon. This meeting provided an opportunity for the teams to strengthen their relationships, share their expertise, and align on a common vision for the development of ICTA’s service offering: providing comprehensive clinical trial support in Spain and Portugal through local teams based in both countries.

This collaboration has now led to the launch of ICTA Iberia, a new service offering that combines ICTA’s full-service CRO expertise with the extensive local knowledge and clinical research experience developed by FreeCRA across the Iberian Peninsula.

Building on Strong Local Foundations

Since 2010, FreeCRA has supported sponsors through a network of experienced clinical research professionals operating throughout Spain and Portugal.

Its expertise covers key operational activities, including:

  • Start up services and feasibity
  • Regulatory
  • Monitoring / Site Management
  • Study nursing

Over the years, FreeCRA has developed a deep understanding of the local clinical research environment, building strong relationships with investigators, sites, and healthcare institutions across both countries.

This local presence enables efficient study execution while ensuring alignment with national regulatory requirements and operational realities.

Expanding Clinical Development Capabilities with ICTA Iberia

As clinical development programs become increasingly complex, sponsors often need both strategic oversight and strong local execution. ICTA Iberia was created to address this need.

Thanks to this collaboration, sponsors can now benefit from ICTA’s full range of CRO services while leveraging FreeCRA’s local expertise and operational network in Spain and Portugal.

ICTA Iberia supports clinical development projects through:

  • Study design
  • Regulatory affairs
  • Project management
  • Site support
  • Site Management & Risk-base monitoring
  • Contract Management & Payment
  • Vigilance
  • Data management
  • Biostatistics
  • Medical writing

This complementary approach enables sponsors to rely on a single partner capable of supporting all clinical operations while maintaining close relationships with investigative sites.

Supporting Biotech, Medtech and Pharmaceutical Companies

Clinical development requires more than technical expertise. It requires partners who understand both the scientific objectives of a study and the operational challenges of conducting research across different healthcare systems.

ICTA Iberia was designed to support biotechnology, medical device, and pharmaceutical companies seeking reliable clinical trial services in Spain and Portugal.

Whether sponsors require support for a specific activity or full-service management of a clinical development program, ICTA Iberia provides a flexible approach adapted to project needs, timelines, and regulatory requirements.

A Shared Vision for Clinical Research in the Iberian Region

The creation of ICTA Iberia reflects a shared commitment between ICTA and FreeCRA: combining international CRO expertise with strong local operational knowledge.

By bringing together ICTA’s multidisciplinary teams and FreeCRA’s regional presence, ICTA Iberia offers sponsors a partner capable of supporting clinical development programs from study design to final reporting while maintaining the responsiveness and local engagement essential to successful trial delivery.

As clinical research continues to evolve, this collaboration strengthens our ability to support sponsors conducting studies in Spain and Portugal and reinforces our commitment to delivering high-quality, patient-focused clinical research services throughout the Iberian region.
